4000th Tool Goes Into Production!
Since 1973, Thermoform Limited has always designed and manufactured its customers' tooling in-house. Today we have reached a milestone in our company's history as our 4000th tool has begun production. With a 48-year history in the design and manufacture of bespoke vacuum formed products, there is not much we haven't made. If you're looking to present your product in a modern, competitively priced, and environmentally friendly package, do not hesitate to call us on +44 1335 343757 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Despite what seems like the 'worlds wishes' single plastics will play a part in our lives and exist for decades to come, as they serve a purpose. We must all embrace recycling as a primary means of responsibility not just for single use plastics but for all packaging. New technology plastics are not always the more environmentally responsible choice.
There is no right one answer. It comes down to the Brands & packaging manufacturers exploring options to find the most responsible choice for application, occasion & moment in time. Next generation technologies are only small pieces of the greater equation. The ultimate solution is brands, manufacturers, packaging industries, government & environment non profits to better inform consumers, develop more easily recyclable packaging and establish better collection and recycling systems.
A better understanding amongst consumers will empower them to make more informed and responsible choices. Its hard to recycle if consumers don't understand what goes where and aren't first reminded to return the packaging to the proper recycling bin. Successful brands, Packaging manufacturers and retailers will be those who develop commercialised and put to use responsible packaging, based on science & facts rather than social media fiction & fear.
In the coming years successful trust from a consumer will be those who make the consumer aware of why a specific packaging format or material has been used. Informing and shouting about the material (for example - this plastic contains up to 80% recycled content) and helping consumers understand what action they can take to re-use or properly dispose of the packaging (reduce, reuse, recycle).
Thermoform Limited are delighted to donate to #teamshield
We, here at Thermoform, are pleased to have played a small part in a grassroots initiative to provide the workers in North Yorkshire care homes, pharmacies and medical centres with protective visors. We were approached by one of the #teamshield members to see if we could manufacture visors for use with Taylor's 3d printed frames. We were happy to help and with our 47year history in the thermoforming of plastics for food packaging we had the knowledge and equipment to do so.
To date, #teamshield have distributed over 1000 protective visors to these keyworkers for free. Many of which used visors supplied by Thermoform.
ECO WATER COOLING SYSTEM
"Thermoforms new Eco Water Cooling System equates to a huge 65% reduction in energy consuption for this process per year"
Matthew Perks, Managing Director, Thermoform
Thermoform has had the pleasure of working with an innovative company - 'Surfaceskins'. Together we have helped Surfaceskins create a solution to antibacterial door pushpads. We have designed a bracket to hold these push pads on doors & pullhandles. These are designed to hold Surfaceskins pads, which kill deposited germs in SECONDS, via secretion of an alcohol gel, to achieve self-disinfection, thus protecting every door user, whilst complementing existing gel dispensers & hand cleaning.
Thermoform Investing in New Technology - Robot Stacker
As part of our continual improvement process, we at Thermoform took the decision to invest in a robot for stacking and for the last two years have worked alongside a partner on its development. With the completion of the project taking place earlier this year, it has not stopped since.
As a bespoke manufacturer of packaging not all our products are conventional shapes. In order to provide our customers with easily denestable irregular shaped products we decided to replace the conventional upward stacker in one of our larger FCS thermoforming machines with a robot. With the robot being capable of stacking these complex products at speed in just about any denesting configuration imaginable.
Since the robot installation we have seen a reduction in manufacturing waste, as well as an improvement in our machine change over time. A longer term benefit will be the reduction in storage requirements for dedicated stacker tooling. However, above all else it has improved the workplace for our workforce as they now handle fewer stacks and work at ground level.
